Early Childhood Development

The ECD mission has two areas of ministry. Both are our attempt to improve the quality of education for the preschool children in our communities.

These two areas are:

• The training of ECD practitioners to provide them with a SAQA accredited qualification in Early Childhood Development in Level 4 and 5 at present.

With each group of student teachers we are reaching into the lives of at least 450 children who now receive a more development-focused and curriculum-based pre-school education.

• The construction of ECD classrooms for practitioners in the more rural areas where resources are limited or unavailable.

This empowers the community to provide an environment for the children where ECD good practice can be implemented and empowers the children to reach their full potential by having access to apparatus, equipment and resources that they would otherwise not have.

Our efforts are concentrated in 3 areas:

2 in the Tshwane district:

• Mamelodi East – Training at Njabulo Day Care Centre and Preschool - Run by MaBetty Cele who gave up her job in order to provide the children of her very poor community with a place of safety and care in their preschool years.
• Soshanguve –Training at Nurtured Mindz Academy - Run by Mankidi Mokone who gave up her government position in order to provide the children of her community with a focused and quality preschool education in preparation for their more formal schooling years
• and one up north in Limpopo (Vhembe) - Tshikuyu – Training at Awelani Lodge - at least 30 villages and their children are being touched by the upliftment of their school environments and their teachers.

Willows ECD TTC

Training for students seeking accredited ECD qualifications. Our role is to provide training via qualified and experienced facilitators to Pretoria East, Central, Mamelodi and Soweto.

Classrooms designed for ECD and constructed by our teams in rural areas where facilities are poor or non-existent for students who have completed accredited ECD qualifications.

Njabulo Daycare Centre

ECD centre in Mamelodi, Njabulo Daycare Centre takes care of 60 children from very poor families. Our role is to uplift the environment and to support the programme in as many ways as possible.
