What Do We Mean By Membership?

For us membership is not just about adding names to an out-dated membership role, but rather an invitation and subsequent commitment by all our members to uphold our purpose and vision. This is our endeavour, even though we know we are all fallible and will probably fall well short of these ideals.

We nonetheless invite all our members to subscribe to the following membership commitment:

We desire to see all people COME to faith in Jesus Christ

With God's help I will...

  • Pray for the church’s continuous growth
  • Invite those outside the church to attend
  • Warmly welcome those who visit the church
  • Constantly bear witness to Christ in my daily life
  • Share the Gospel with those God brings across my path
  • “Then the Master told his servant, ‘Go to the roads and paths! Urge the people to come to my house. I want it to be full.’” (Lk. 14:23, GW)
  • “God is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Pet. 3:9, NIV)
  • “You will be my witnesses to testify about me…” (Acts 1:8, GW)
  • “So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified” (Rom 15:7, LB)

So that they may be HEALED of their brokenness

With God's help I will...

  • Confess my sins daily to the Lord
  • Find healing and restoration through the ministry of the Holy Spirit
  • Pray for, comfort, support and encourage those who are in need and
  • Demonstrate the love of Christ to all by sharing their burdens
  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 Jn. 1:8-9, NIV)
  • “`Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.’” (Jer. 33:6, NIV)
  • “In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.” (Ps. 31:1-2, NIV)
  • “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Gal. 6:10, NIV)

That they may all GROW in their relationship with God

With God's help I will...

  • Attend worship faithfully
  • Give regularly through my tithes and offerings
  • Attend to personal daily devotions — through prayer and the study of the Scriptures
  • Avail myself of opportunities for growth through seminars or training workshops
  • Belong to a regular life group in the church
  • Serve the church as a whole by making use of my talents and spiritual gifts
  • Follow and submit to my appointed spiritual leaders in the church
  • Seek to live a moral and Godly life according to God’s Word
  • Develop a servant's heart
  • “Let us not give up meeting together … but let us encourage one another.” (Heb. 10:25, NIV)
  • “I urge you, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Rom. 12:1, NIV)
  • “Each of you should give whatever you have decided…. you should not feel sorry that you gave or feel forced to give, since God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9:7 GW)
  • “Be anxious about nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…” (Phil. 4:6-7, NIV)
  • “They devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and to fellowship … and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
  • “Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had, although he was in the form of God and equal with God … He emptied Himself by taking on the nature of a servant …” (Phil. 2:6-7 GW)

And HELP others to do the same

With God's help I will...

  • Help and encourage others in their spiritual journey
  • Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before God
  • Gently correct and restore those of the body who have fallen into sin
  • Seek to support the outreach and mission initiatives of the church
  • Love my neighbour as myself
  • Seek to establish and nurture relationships with those outside the Kingdom
  • “The Spirit of the Lord is on me…he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor… to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed...” (Lk4:18 NIV)
  • “I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” (Matt 25:45 NIV)
  • “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.” (Gal 6:1 NIV)
  • “And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. “ (Micah 6.8 NIV)
  • “He answered: " `Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, `Love your neighbor as yourself.'“ (Luke 10:27 NIV)
