Kingdom Preparatory School — God's Miracle!
The establishment of our school – Kingdom Preparatory – on our church premises, is a remarkable story. It is a story of God’s grace and provision – indeed, we see it as nothing short of God’s miracle! It is a story that testifies to the commitment, dedication and perseverance of many individuals involved from the outset.
In January 2015 we received a letter from the Principals of Kiddies Academy, Zanne Kriek and Charmaine Jooste, enquiring whether they might hire our Children’s Church facilities for the expansion of their Pre-School, just around the corner from the church.
The request was taken to the Church Executive who felt, at the time, that it conflicted with our own vision of establishing an ECD (Early Childhood Development) Centre in the same facilities. We wished them well and began pursuing our own vision.
It seemed however, that God had other plans in store for us. We soon realised that what we had undertaken was far greater than we had anticipated, especially given that most of those we could call upon to champion the project were volunteers and we really wanted to open the ECD Centre in January 2016. Our pastor again contacted Zanne and Charmaine some months later, to find out whether they had found alternative premises, which they hadn’t (which we are now most grateful for!). So began a series of meetings that ultimately gave birth to Kingdom Preparatory, with us both being 50-50 shareholders. The board is currently made up of Zanne and Charmaine representing their 50% shareholding interests and Andrew Worthington and Dave Short representing WMC (through Ransom) shareholding. Little did any of us realise then what we were getting into!
The last few months of 2015 were spent working around the clock to get the school ready for our first opening day in mid-January 2016. We renovated existing classrooms, erected new facilities, added amenities, offices and play grounds. The school opened on time in 2016 with 65 children. The following year we had 230 children enrolled and in 2018 over 300 children, from Grade R through to Grade 7. The dream continues as we head towards 400 children in 2019!
The current school is made up primarily of the original buildings plus several prefabricated classrooms that have been erected each year as the school has expanded. We are currently busy with the architectural plans for our permanent school facility which will comprise 2 classes for Grade R and 3 classes for Grades 1 to 7 ultimately accommodating 575 learners. We are in final stages of CoT approvals and hope to start our building project in 2019. A number of investors have been approached and we hope to finalise our investment partner later this year with a number of institutions having shown interest.
Kingdom Preparatory School is unashamedly Christian and all our staff seek to instil Christian-based values in our children.
